# Intel Channels & Reporting In null-sec, intel is life. The coalition intel channels act as our early warning radar system. Whether you are ratting, mining, or moving assets, you must have the relevant intel channels open and visible at all times. Failure to report hostiles, or dying because you were not paying attention to intel, is considered a preventable loss and may void your SRP. --- ## Mandatory Intel Channels Depending on where you are operating, you must be in the correct intel channel. * **Winter Co Intel:** `[Look in corp motd for one of 3 chats]` **Setup Tip:** Drag your intel channels into a separate chat window from your corp/fleet chat. Make the window tall and place it somewhere highly visible on your screen. --- ## The Golden Rule: NO CHATTER Intel channels are for reporting hostile movements **only**. * No casual conversation. * No asking "is it safe to rat?" * No complaining about being tackled. * No memes or killmail links (unless specifically asked by an FC/Response fleet). Cluttering the intel channel pushes vital survival information off the screen for hundreds of other pilots. Violating the no-chatter rule will result in a coalition-level ban from the channel. --- ## How to Report Intel (The Standard Format) When a neutral or hostile (grey/red/orange) enters your system, you must report them immediately. The EVE universe uses a standard, universal format for this: > **Format:** `[System Name] - [Character Name] - [Ship Type] - [Direction/Status]` ### The Drag-and-Drop Method (Fastest) Do not type names manually—it is too slow and prone to typos. Use the EVE UI to do the work for you: 1. Click the text input box of the Intel channel. 2. **Drag and drop** the name of the system from the top-left of your screen into the chat box. 3. Type `" - "` or `" * "` to separate. 4. **Drag and drop** the hostile character's name from Local chat into the chat box. 5. Type `" - "` or `" * "`. 6. Type the ship type (if known). If you see them on D-Scan or on grid, name the ship. If you just see them in local, type `"NV"` (No Visual) or leave it blank. 7. Hit Enter. ### Good Intel Examples: * `J-XYZ1 - EnemyPilot22 - Sabre - Gate to ABC-2` * `Q-1234 - GrieferMan - NV - +3 in local` (Meaning: 3 neutrals total, no visual on ships). * `AbyssalSystem - BadGuy99 - Loki - Docked` --- ## Reading Intel & Reacting Reporting is only half the job. You must also monitor the channel to keep yourself safe. * **Set up Alerts:** Click the gear icon in the intel chat window and ensure the channel is set to **Blink On New Message**. * **Know Your Geography:** Memorize the systems within a 5-jump radius of your ratting or mining pocket. If you see a hostile reported 4 jumps away, align out. If they are reported 2 jumps away, warp to tether or dock up immediately. * **Third-Party Tools:** We highly recommend using authorized Intel map tools like **SMT (Slazanger's Map Tool)** or **Vintel**. These programs read your chat logs locally and provide an audible ping and a visual map overlay when hostiles get near your system. *(If you need help setting these up, ask in Discord).* ## "Clear" Reports When a hostile leaves a dead-end pocket or exits our space, it is helpful to report the system as clear. * *Example:* `J-XYZ1 - CLR` or `J-XYZ1 - Clear` Do not report a system clear just because you haven't seen a neutral for 5 minutes. Only report it clear if you visually watched them leave via a gate or wormhole.
